Handmade In-Frame Kitchens Direct
Handmade In-Frame Kitchens Direct
Painted Kitchen Co supplies traditional in-frame kitchen cabinetry directly to homeowners, designers and trade customers throughout the UK. Our aim is simple: to offer the character and quality associated with a handmade painted kitchen, with transparent online cabinet prices and the flexibility to buy flat packed or fully assembled.
Choose from our clean-lined Simple Shaker style or the more decorative Signature Shaker with a cock-beaded frame. We can also alter many cabinet dimensions or create made-to-measure pieces where a standard unit is not suitable.

What makes our kitchens different?
- Traditional in-frame construction: doors and drawer fronts sit within a solid timber frame for a refined, furniture-like appearance.
- Direct, visible pricing: browse our complete cabinet range and current prices online.
- Flat packed or assembled: save money by assembling the cabinetry yourself, or ask us to supply it built and ready for fitting.
- Standard and bespoke options: use our extensive standard range wherever possible, then add altered or made-to-measure cabinets where the room requires them.
- Free CAD planning: send us a sketch, plan or existing quotation and our team can help turn it into a practical cabinet layout.
- Nationwide delivery: orders are dispatched from our warehouse near Swindon, Wiltshire, for delivery across the UK.
How our cabinets are constructed
Our current cabinet specification combines traditional details with stable modern materials:
- Oak-veneered MDF cabinet carcases
- Solid birch frames and door rails
- MDF centre panels for stability
- Dovetailed solid-oak drawer boxes
- Soft-close adjustable drawer runners
- Lacquered cabinet interiors that are ready to use
You can read the full specification on our cabinet materials and construction page.

Standard cabinetry or a bespoke kitchen?
A good kitchen does not need every cabinet to be made to a unique size. Most projects can use our standard cabinets for the majority of the layout, keeping the cost sensible and making prices easy to compare. Where the room has an awkward corner, unusual ceiling height or a particular design feature, we can quote for altered sizes and bespoke pieces.
This combination gives you much of the freedom of a fully bespoke kitchen without automatically paying a bespoke price for every unit.
Simple Shaker or Signature Shaker?
Simple Shaker has a plain 40mm in-frame profile. It suits both contemporary and traditional rooms and is the cleanest-looking option.
Signature Shaker adds a cock-bead around the frame. The fine raised detail creates more shadow and character, making it particularly effective in period properties and classically styled kitchens.
Both ranges can be personalised further with optional centre-panel beadings. See the available beading styles or compare the Simple and Signature pages.
Flat packed or fully built
The cabinet materials and finished appearance are the same whichever option you choose. Flat pack saves the workshop assembly cost and can make access easier in properties with tight hallways or stairs. Fully built cabinetry reduces work on site and is often preferred when a fitter is working to a tight schedule.
Our flat-pack cabinets have pre-drilled fixing points, marked runner positions and dovetailed drawers designed to slot together. Read the complete flat-pack and DIY kitchen guide before deciding which option is right for you.
Supplied ready for your chosen colour
The cabinet interiors are lacquered and ready to use. The external frames, doors and visible panels are supplied primed so they can be finished in the colour and paint system chosen for your project. Painting after installation also allows joints, scribes and finishing details to be completed as one consistent scheme.
See our painting guide for more detail.

Frequently asked questions
Are your kitchens genuinely in-frame?
Yes. The doors and drawer fronts sit inside a fixed face frame, rather than attaching directly to the edge of a frameless cabinet.
Can I order only the cabinets?
Yes. We supply cabinetry and related components, allowing you to arrange painting, worktops, appliances and installation in the way that suits your project.
Can my kitchen fitter assemble the flat-pack cabinets?
Yes. A competent kitchen fitter or experienced DIYer should be comfortable with the construction. We recommend sharing our assembly information with your fitter before installation begins.
Can you alter cabinet sizes?
Many sizes and details can be changed, and fully bespoke pieces can be quoted where required. Send us the dimensions and intended use so we can advise on the best approach.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver throughout the UK. See our delivery information for current details.
